About us

I'm Megan. Born in 1989, kicking and screaming (politely) and loving life. I am happy. I enjoy the pursuit of happiness, and I love to help make others happy.

I live in beautiful, historic Hespeler, Ontario with my husband, son and dog. We live on the river, amid (savage) geese and (even more savage) swans, graceful herons and jolly drunk fishermen. We love it here. This is my home, and the chance to work from home would make life a sweet thing indeed.

Creative, observant and constantly inspired by the world around me, I can be shy and quiet for the first 10 to 15 minutes of meeting new people. That's just my prim English grandparents' legacy; once those moments pass, I light up. What are we talking about? New ideas? Opinions? Opinions that differ from mine? Neat! Let's discuss! Let's get into a heated debate! Now lets bring it back to comfortable small talk about pop culture, so we can remain new friends without animosity. I appreciate kindness and basic etiquette as much as I appreciate my secret brownie recipe (that is to say, a lot. And maybe I'll share my recipe with you. Maybe. Is that a bribe? Perhaps.). I love to laugh. Laughing is my favourite. I especially love all things droll, dry, bizarre, and silly. A well-placed joke can turn almost any situation around (do not try this at funerals or when someone is trying to understand the ending of the show Lost).  I delight in people who do things, who make things, who want to change things and make things happen. Shopify's team seems like that: my kind of people.

I like people. I appreciate people. I adore the word "Sonder"-the realization that everyone around you has a life truly outside of yours, just as complex, with thoughts, ideas, feelings all as intensely felt as your own. It is this quality that allows me to excel in customer service, and assisting clients. Your problem is my problem, so lets fix it. If I had one complaint about my past experience in customer service, it is that I desire to go above and beyond to assist clients, and haven't always had that freedom. Being a Shopify Guru seems to promise that accountability and involvement I have been searching for.

I have displayed excellent customer service skills since I was 4 years old, attempting to sell my mum an empty box of Joe Louis (tough customer). Since then, I have honed my skills in a variety of customer service positions. From being a receptionist to a barista to a florist, the basics are the same: Listen avidly to your client. Empathize. Give your best effort to find a solution. If you don't know, find out. Follow up. Thank people for their business and for their time. Appreciate your coworkers. Help each other.

I believe I have the qualities Shopify is looking for. So lets be friends. Lets talk. It would change my life.
